Cedar Rapids, Iowa- The host RoughRiders stormed past the Des Moines Buccaneers 8-3 Saturday night to snap the Bucs' seven-game season opening winning streak.

Eight different players scored for the Riders, who jumped out of the gate to an early 3-0 lead.

Just 1:50 into the first period Scott Mathis snapped the puck home from the blue line to make it 1-0.

The Riders stretched the lead to three with back-to-back power play goals. Robin Bergman's one timer at 5:35 was followed just 55 seconds later by a Pat Cannone tip-in goal. After Cannone's goal, the Bucs replaced starting goaltender Bryan Mountain with Matt Dalton.

The Bucs got on scoreboard for the first time while on a two man advantage. Jeff Petry's wrister from the high slot cut the Rider lead to 3-1 at 15:25 of the first.

Aaron Bogosian snuffed out that Des Moines spark with a shorthanded goal just 57 seconds later. Bogosian finished off a 2-on-1 rush to stretch the gap to 4-1 with what would prove to be the game winning goal.

At 11:11 of the second period the Bucs again trimmed the Cedar Rapids lead to two goals as Ben Van Lare crashed the net to jam the puck over the goal line.

The Riders were again able to respond at 18:30 of the second when Rob Bordson shoveled the puck home from the doorstep for the power play goal that gave Cedar Rapids a 5-2 edge.

Early in the third period Des Moines spirits were again lifted when Michael Dorr snapped the puck past Rider netminder Kent Patterson (24 saves) on a 3-on-2, but the Riders would put the Bucs away with three unanswered goals.

The late flurry started when Kevin Wehrs snapped the puck in just under the cross bar for the sixth Rider goal at 10:23 of the third.

Tommy Wingels walked in behind the Bucs defense to push the lead out to 7-3 at 17:03.

Andy Miele's short side goal capped off the rousing Rider win with just 39 seconds left in the game.
