Riders Re-Sign All-Star Defensive Back

Today, the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club announced they have re-signed import defensive back Omarr Morgan. Terms of the deal were not released.

Morgan is entering his fourth season with the Green and White. The cornerback was a key member of the Rider secondary that led the CFL in pass defence.

Morgan led the Rider secondary with five interceptions, recorded 47 defensive tackles, and eight pass knockdowns in 18 games last season. The 26-year old was also named to the CFL All-Star team for his amazing season.

The BYU grad has picked up 168 defensive tackles, 18 special teams tackles, and 12 interceptions in three seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

2002: Started 18 games at left corner...starting left corner for East Semi-Final...had 42-yard interception for first career CFL touchdown in WEEK 6...had five defensive tackles and one fumble recovery for a touchdown in WEEK 14...led team with five interceptions...SEASON STATS: 47 defensive tackles, six special teams tackles, eight pass knockdowns, two fumble recoveries, five interceptions and two touchdowns.

2001: Started all 18 games at left corner. Also played on special teams...had season high seven defensive tackles in WEEK 10...SEASON STATS: 63 defensive tackles...six special teams tackles...three interceptions and three pass knockdowns.

CAREER: Dressed for 18 games in 2000...WEEK 1 was first CFL game...started at corner for 17 games...listed as backup defensive back in WEEK 16...registered eight defensive tackles and a pass knockdown in WEEK 10 at Toronto...had 56 yard interception return at Toronto in WEEK 11...SEASON STATS: led all defensive backs with 58 tackles and six special team tackles...also tied for team best with 10 pass knockdowns...grabbed team high four interceptions...also had team best three fumble recoveries...added two tackles for losses...joined Roughrider training camp in June 1999...left camp prior to final cut down. Went to training camp with the Rams in 1998...left camp due to family illness.

COLLEGE: Spent two seasons at Brigham Young University...teammate of former Rider Steve Sarkisian...was all-WAC First Team All-Star in 1996 and 1997...was also an honorable mention all-American by NFL in 1997...played in 23 career games at BYU...was a starter in final season...also played on kick-off and punt coverage teams...played two seasons at El Camino Junior College...played one year with Sarkisian at El Camino.
