St. John's IceCaps News Release
CLOSED DOORS: Rookie netminder Zach Fucale recorded his first pro shutout on Tuesday night. Fucale stopped 39 saves in a 4-0 victory over the Syracuse Crunch.
LEAGUE TOPPERS: Bud Holloway currently sits fifth overall in league scoring with 15 goals, 29 assists and 44 points over 44 games. Holloway has seven points in his last four games (2G, 5A). Morgan Ellis is in second place for most goals scored by a defencemen with 11 in 51 games.
MILE ONE DEBUT : NHL All-Star MVP, and IceCaps forward John Scott returned to St. John's on Friday evening. Scott made his Mile One debut this weekend against the Toronto Marlies.
Fucale stopped all 39 shots he faced to preserve the win in a first star performance over the Crunch. Gabriel Dumont had a goal and two assists, Bud Holloway notched three helpers and Morgan Ellis had a goal and an assist. Michael McCarron and Nikita Scherbak picked up the other goals for the home side, which snapped a five-game winless skid.
The IceCaps bested the Marlies on Saturday night at Mile One Centre. Victor Bartley, Charles Hudon and Bud Holloway's empty netter helped the IceCaps beat the AHL's top club. Holloway finished the contest with three points (1G, 2A) while Michael McCarron notched a pair of assists.
Charles Hudon notched a beauty overtime winner as the IceCaps swept the Crunch at Mile One. Mark MacMillan, Nikita Scherbak and Victor Bartley - his first as an IceCap - scored in regulation. Ryan Johnston picked up a pair of helpers.
Eddie Pasquale stopped 44 shots but the IceCaps fell to the Marlies on Valentine's Day. Bud Holloway scored late for the IceCaps to narrow the Marlies lead to one, but a last minute rally fell just short.
