Richmond Raiders News Release
Turnovers often prove to be the deciding factor in a football game. That certainly seemed to have been the case last Saturday for Richmond against the playoff-seeking Alabama Hammers. The Raiders found themselves in the middle of a dog-fight at one point as they watched a 19-point lead slip to just two-points. But capped off by linebacker Pierre Lee's second interception of the night, Alabama was held scoreless for most of the fourth quarter as Richmond scored two more touchdowns and a T. C. Stevens uno to bring the final score to 57-40.
As a result of his performance, Pierre Lee has been named by the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) "Week 11 Defensive Player of the Week." Second place Richmond (8-2) travels to face the Knoxville Nighthawks (1-9) this Saturday evening, and on Saturday, June 16, Richmond will host the first place Albany Panthers. Depending on what transpires this coming Saturday, the June 16 game could determine which team finishes first in the PIFL for the regular season. Richmond has already earned a home game in the playoffs, which will take place at the Richmond Coliseum on Monday, June 25.
