PIFL Conference Semi-Final Dates Set

June 5, 2012 - Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) News Release

KNOXVILLE, TN (June 5, 2012) - With victories in Week 11, both the Albany Panthers (9-1) and the Richmond Raiders (8-2) of the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) clinched home-field advantage in the Conference Semi-Finals.

For Albany, their playoff season will begin on Saturday June 23rd at 7:30 PM. After this Saturday, the Panthers would have faced both Columbus and Louisiana three times a piece. Having already swept the season series with Bucs, Albany will try and take the rubber match when they travel to take on their in-state rival Lions. In the past two seasons, the Panthers have hosted three playoff games amassing a record of 2-1.

The Raiders franchise will make their playoff debut in the friendly confines of the Richmond Coliseum on Monday June 25th at 7:00 PM ET. The Coliseum crowd has established itself as a force to be reckoned with as the Raiders have accumulated a 5-0 record with one regular-season home game remaining (June 16th vs. Albany). The Lions and Bucs have faced Richmond two times a piece combining to go 1-3 and 0-3 in the Commonwealth state.

Who their opponents will be, either Louisiana or Columbus is a toss-up as well. With their 61-57 victory over the Lions, the Bucs placed themselves into a third-place tie with Columbus. Louisiana will end the season with a home-and-home series with the Alabama Hammers (2-9) while Columbus will concluded the 2012 regular season with a two-game home stand (6/9 vs. Albany, 6/16 vs. Knoxville).

With two weeks remaining, the Panthers close out the regular season on the road with trips to Columbus (6/9) and Richmond (6/16). Meanwhile, the Raiders will finish out the year with a visit to Knoxville (6/9) before hosting the current first-place Panthers on June 16th in what could prove to be a championship preview.

That game on the 16th could very well decide who earns the right to host the inaugural PIFL Championship.
