
Richmond Kickers Host 12th Annual Pro Tryouts

Richmond, VA - (Friday, October 9, 2009) - The 2009 USL Second Division Champions, Richmond Kickers are pleased to host their 12th Annual Player Combine for eligible college seniors, qualified free agents and talented amateur players that are seeking a professional contract. The weekend is set for February 19-21, 2010 at the Richmond Kickers state-of-the-art facility, Ukrop Park.
"We receive hundreds of requests each year for players to tryout for the Richmond Kickers," comments Richmond Kickers Head Coach Leigh Cowlishaw. "This combine is the most effective way for those players to have an opportunity to impress the Kickers coaching staff and secure a professional contract."
A selected number of applicants will be invited to participate in three days of intense training and scrimmages beginning with an evening session on Friday, February 19th. The application cost is $99.00 and does not include travel, hotel room nights or meals. Recommended lodging will be posted via RichmondKickers.com in the near future.
Past Kickers trials have produced such prominent players as Clyde Simms (D.C. United and US Men's National Team), Ronnie Pascale (Three-time USL-2 Goalkeeper of the Year), Tim Brown (New Zealand National Team) and Robert Ssejjemba (2006 USL-2 MVP and Ugandan National Team).

Over the past 17 seasons, Richmond has qualified for postseason play 15 times, and reached the title match in 2009 for the fifth time in the past eight seasons. Richmond's six previous league Championship appearances (1995, 1996, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007) include winning the Premier League title in 1995, a shoot-out loss to Seattle in the USL First Division final in 2005 and taking the USL Second Division crown against Charlotte in 2006.
