TODAY: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and Bowie Baysox will meet in the finale of a three-game series...Left-hander Mike Ballard limited the Flying Squirrels to one run over eight innings of work as he and the Baysox never trailed in a 3-1 win on Saturday night in front of 7,554 fans at The Diamond.

GRAND FINALE?: The Flying Squirrels can wrap up their fifth consecutive series victory, which would be a first in the two-year history of the franchise, with a win in today's rubber match with the Baysox...The club is 7-3 in rubber matches this season and has won each of its last five series-deciding games...Richmond is 11-9 overall in series finales...The team is 4-8 in day games after night games and 6-9 overall in day games.

MO-MENTUM: Catcher Johnny Monell blasted his team-leading seventh home run, a two-out, solo shot to left-center field in the bottom of the eighth inning last night...Five of his seven home runs have been hit to the opposite field...Six of his seven home runs have been hit at The Diamond and four of those six have been opposite field homers...The 25-year-old hit a career-high 19 home runs in 115 games with Advanced-A San Jose in 2010.

THE JOLLY ROGER: Outfielder Roger Kieschnick is batting .314 (43-for-137) over his last 36 games with six doubles, three triples, six home runs, 25 RBIs and 20 runs scored...The 24-year-old has 16 multi-hit games over that span which also includes a season-long eight-game hit streak...He has raised his batting average from .173 to .253 since 5/7...His five RBIs Thursday night were a season-high for a Richmond batter.

PITCHING IN: The Flying Squirrels pitching staff leads the Eastern League with a 2.96 ERA through 67 games, the only staff with a sub-three ERA...Richmond's 2.96 staff ERA is also the lowest in all of MiLB...The pitching staff has logged a league-high 613 1/3 innings of work and has allowed a league-low 237 runs.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME: The Flying Squirrels have begun a stretch where they will play 20 out of 27 games at home...The club is 22-13 at home and is batting .249 (297-for-1,192) in 35 games at The Diamond while averaging 4.34 runs per game at home (152R/35G)...Overall, the club is 12-20 on the road, and is batting .201 (215-for-1,069) and averaging 3.22 runs per game (103R/32G) in 32 road contests.
