Indiana Mad Ants News Release

The NBA's Memphis Grizzlies announced today that they have signed Fort Wayne Mad Ants' guard/forward Jeremy Richardson. Richardson leaves the Mad Ants as the NBA D-League's leading scorer averaging 28.5 points per game. He is the fourth player in the D-league to earn a Gatorade Call-Up to the NBA this season.

Rising star Richardson is no stranger to the NBA; during his time with the Fort Worth Flyers in the 2006-07 season he was called up by both the Atlanta Hawks and the Portland Trailblazers, each on 10 day contracts. He also spent this past summer in training camp with the Miami Heat.

"We are pleased to call Jeremy Richardson up from the NBA Development League's Fort Wayne Mad Ants," said Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace. "He is an exciting young talent whose career is on a real upswing. Jeremy can shoot the three-pointer, is very good at coming off screens and is blessed with impressive length and size for a perimeter player.

"Jeremy has received excellent coaching and an opportunity to develop his game against strong competition in an NBA-like setting over his time in the D-league. The D-League is an invaluable training ground for talented young players such as Jeremy who need to transition into professional Basketball."

Richardson who scored over 30 points in five of the Mad Ants eight games, including a D-league season high 40 points against Iowa on November 29, could see action with the Grizzlies this Friday December 21st in Detroit and Saturday the 22nd in Memphis.
