
RHP Serrano Joins BayBears

MOBILE, AL -- The Mobile BayBears and Arizona Diamondbacks have announced that on Friday, May 9, 2014 RHP Sean Furney has been transferred from AA Mobile to A South Bend and RHP Mark Serrano has been transferred from AAA Reno to AA Mobile.
Serrano joins the BayBears from AAA Reno where the righty appeared in six games with the Aces. In 10.1 innings this season, Serrano has allowed six runs, five earned on 10 hits with an ERA of 4.35. In 2013 Serrano appeared in 16 games with Mobile, posting a 5-2 mark, allowing 17 runs on 45 hits in 44.2 innings.
Furney was transferred from Extended Spring Training to AA Mobile on Monday, May 6. In his Double-A debut the Warwick, Road Island native allowed 2 runs, both earned on seven hits, walking two and striking out three over four innings. The righty signed as a free agent with the Diamondbacks in June 2013. In the D-backs rookie league, Furney went a 1-5 with a 2.62 ERA, allowing 16 earned runs in 55 innings.
