Rochester Rhinos News Release

Rochester host third place FC Cincinnati this Wednesday at 7:05

After the holiday weekend away, the Rhinos return home to host two games this week. The first comes tomorrow against FC Cincinnati at 7:00 p.m. at Rochester Rhinos Stadium. This is the Rhinos first regular season midweek match of 2016. It is also the first time the two teams will meet in their history.

The match will be a challenge for the Rhinos who after winning one at home on June 18 against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, went on the road this past weekend to draw against the New York Red Bulls II this last Saturday. Rochester's current record is 6-4-4 on the season. The Rhinos are 4-1-2 at home on their new turf.

FC Cincinnati are unbeaten in eleven matches and are coming off a 1-0 win this past Saturday after defeating Bethlehem Steel FC. FC Cincinnati have scored 22 goals on the season while only allowing in 13, a number they share with the Rochester Rhinos. The defending champions were known for their defensive skills last season and will be looking to defend their home field Wednesday night with a strong showing. The Rhinos are currently three places behind third place FC Cincinnati in the Eastern Conference Standings.

Key players to watch for the Rhinos include leading goal scorers Christian Volesky (5) and Joseph Farrell (4). Leading contributors for FCC include Sean Okoli (7), with Jimmy McLeaughlin (3) and Andrew Weideman (3).

FC Cincinnati have a record of 3-1-2 on the road this season, with their road loss coming early on in the season. While the Rhinos record suggest a slow down for the defending champions, taking a closer look at their match ups show that they are contending with the top of the table. While 2-2-1 in their last five matches, they held first place Louisville City FC to just one goal and came out with a draw against second place NYRB II, a game that they controlled for a majority of play.

The Rhinos match against the third place FC Cincinnati on Wednesday night is sure to be something to watch.
