Revs Prepared to Adjust Without Sene

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England midfielder Kelyn Rowe said he and his teammates must find a way to compensate for the loss of Saër Sène in order to secure the club's first postseason berth since 2009.

Sène will miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a dislocated left ankle and a broken left fibula in Saturday's 1-0 victory at Montreal. The in-form striker underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair the damage, according to a release issued by the club.

His expected recovery time of four to six months renders him unavailable as the Revs seek to make their final postseason push against Columbus over the next two weekends.

Rowe cited Sène's recent form - two goals and three assists in his final six games of the campaign - as a reason why the Revs will miss his services over the final fortnight.

"The Saër injury is a big blow," Rowe told MLSsoccer.com on Wednesday morning. "He was playing really well, especially over this last month."

At this stage of the campaign, the Revs cannot afford to dwell on Sène's absence and Lee Nguyen's impending one-match ban for the home finale against the Crew on Saturday. Revolution coach Jay Heaps said he and his players must rely other players to plug the gaps in midfield and concoct a way to procure the victory required to maintain their postseason hopes.

"It's obviously difficult to lose two key players for us," Heaps said. "In the same breath, we feel like we've built a pretty deep team. And the players feel it's a deep team. They want time. We've got guys that are just ready to step up."

Veteran goalkeeper Matt Reis said he remains confident his teammates can compensate for Sène's absence as they search for a second consecutive victory.

"I think we've had to adjust to it all year," Reis said. "It's really not that different. It's just a chance for somebody to step in there, work together and get the result."
