FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England Revolution forward Saer Sene underwent surgery on his injured left ankle earlier today. He will miss the remainder of the 2013 season and is expected to need four to six months to rehabilitate the injury.
Dr. George Theodore performed the left fibula and ankle syndesmosis repair on Sene at Mass General West in Waltham, Mass. Sene, 26, underwent the surgery to repair his broken left fibula and stabilize the left ankle dislocation he suffered in the Revs' match in Montreal on Saturday, Oct. 12.
Sene has appeared in 24 matches this season with the Revs, scoring five goals and adding five assists. Now in his second year with the club, this is the second season in a row that the Paris, France, native has suffered a season-ending injury. In August 2012, Sene suffered a left knee injury and underwent ACL repair surgery in September, before making a full return to the field on April 13, 2013.
