FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England Revolution II (1-3-2, 5 pts.) fell on Saturday, dropping a 4-0 result on the road to Chattanooga Red Wolves SC. Revolution II made a pair of changes to the lineup from Wednesday night's win, rotating in goalkeeper Keegan Meyer for his second start of the season and reverting left back Ryan Spaulding back to his natural position of winger.

Chattanooga scored three times in the first half, including a brace by Marky Hernandez and a goal and an assist from Ricardo Zacarias. Steven Beattie scored the final goal late in the second half.

Defender Jon Bell led both teams with 87 touches and completing 65 of 77 passes. On the offensive end, Isaac Angking and Orlando Sinclair had the best chances of the day for New England, but both saw their efforts go wide.

At the start of Saturday's match, both teams demonstrated their support for the ongoing struggle for social justice and equality by taking a knee after the opening whistle, before beginning play after seven minutes of reflection.

New England returns home to face Forward Madison FC on Friday at Gillette Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. The match will stream live on ESPN+ in the United States and YouTube internationally.

POSTGAME QUOTES: New England Revolution II 0 at Chattanooga Red Wolves SC 4

Revolution II Head Coach Clint Peay

On the seven-minute protest to start the match:

Peay: "It's something that the players thought was an appropriate way to express their frustrations and need for change in society and the community. I thought it was handled just fine. They chose seven minutes for the obvious reason and I thought it didn't take away from the game in any way."

On Ryan Spaulding playing left wing:

Peay: "Ryan has always been a winger and we've converted him to left back. We had been talking about it for a long time and wanted to just have a look and see if he could be effective in that area. We've been in need of a little bit more balance in our attack on both sides of the wings and thought maybe Ryan could give us something there. I would say he did okay considering he had not really trained there much obviously just throwing him into the position. Certainly I think he can provide more of a spark in that regard. He has the ability to take people one-on-one. It's something that we may look into again and it was a little bit of an experiment for us."

On using the result as a learning experience:

Peay: "We all have to look into how we prepare for games, how we adapt and adjust to life on the road, the conditions, a different venue, and the way another team plays. All these things are factors and I think it's a point of reflection for everybody, staff included, to figure out where can we be better and how can we be better. I don't think the players came out prepared today and I take the blame for that."

On preparing for Forward Madison next week:

Peay: "We have to go back and look at how we prepared for this game and look at how we prepared for this game and figure out where, if anywhere, we can be better or if it's just a matter of players looking at themselves and saying I can be better. I thought we were just soft and we gave away soft goals. If you do that, you're always going to have difficulties competing in games. So one piece is simply looking at the film, obviously preparing for what Forward Madison does well, and hopefully having the right mindset as we move forward."

Revolution II Defender Jon Bell

On the seven-minute protest to start the match:

Bell: "I think it was a great response to what all the other leagues are doing in terms of the boycotts. There was a lot of talk about whether to play or not to play and I think we made a great decision by playing because when we do play we are still able to show exactly what is going on in the world and we did that with the first seven minutes because people didn't expect it and I'm happy the way USL let us plan it out and have us shed light on what's happened over the past couple weeks."

On combination of fatigue and challenges Chattanooga posed offensively:

Bell: "It weighed on us heavily. It was a quick turnaround from Wednesday's game and having to travel, we kind of had a similar lineup so guys were still recovering from Wednesday. We can only control so much when it comes to weather and we have to deal with it as players who play outside. I think you could put a little bit of it on our last game but our mentality just wasn't there like it was on Wednesday."

On preparing for Forward Madison:

Bell: "We've just got to get back to the way that we know how to play and that's to play with heart, play with a Mamba mentality for 90 minutes. I think going back home we kind of have a chip on our shoulder now like we don't want to lose like this again and I think that's going to be the energy going out next week to practice and up until the game. We don't want to have this feeling again."

On lessons the team can take from a match like Saturday's:

Bell: "You just learn from it. You've got to be a sponge when it comes things like this - learn from it, take it, and improve on it. We can be upset about this loss today but come tomorrow it's onto next week's game."
