POSTGAME QUOTES: New England Revolution II 1 at Orlando City B 0

Revolution II Head Coach Clint Peay

On getting Justin Rennicks more involved in the second half:

Peay: "I think the biggest adjustment was our mentality. We had a lot of the ball but we were very passive and I wanted our guys to be more aggressive and pick the tempo of the game up to take the game to [Orlando City B] more. And I think we started the second half well in that regard."

On defending against Orlando City's speedy wingers:

Peay: "I think for us it was really making the game predictable. We knew that if we pressured them it would be more direct and being able to win second balls, those battles, was to our advantage. And from there it was just play. I think in the second half we were a little bit better than in the first half, not that we gave them too much respect but maybe showed a little confusion on how we wanted to press and we just had to discuss it at halftime to make adjustments."

On the team talk at halftime:

Peay: "It was about being more aggressive on both sides of the ball and we thought that we gave them a little bit too much respect. We weren't as in-sync as group defensively as we wanted to be. That was the conversation - how can we be more collective and how can we be more of the aggressor on both sides of the ball."

On the injury to Joe Rice and Keegan Meyer stepping in:

Peay: "It's never easy for a goalkeeper, it's never something you expect but you have to be ready for it mentally. I thought Keegan did a good job coming in and settling into the game nicely. And I think our backs did a tremendous job overall today limiting the opportunities that Orlando created."

On a second consecutive shutout:

Peay: "It's a good feeling. The players want to know that they can go out and do this and we're showing that we can so it brings confidence to the group. I think the ability to now score and keep a clean sheet also shows the guys that we can take the game to an opponent and be confident in doing so."

Revolution II Defender Ryan Spaulding

On Orlando City building attacks down the wings:

Spaulding: "They had some young, talented guys up top. The main message from Clint [Peay] was to get pressure on them, other guys around them support and then just try to get a body on them, get a tackle in, block crosses, and be smart."

On attacking in transition:

Spaulding: "That was a huge and that was mainly because the coaches wanted us to get up and get pressure on them. We knew if we got that pressure on them, they were young and were going to make mistakes and we just had capitalize by winning the ball, get shots on goal, crosses, and that final pass."

On rallying around Keegan Meyer after an injury to Joe Rice:

Spaulding: "We have confidence in Keegan, both he and Joe are phenomenal keepers. We honestly just played it like there was no difference - just keep with our gameplan and continue to work hard for each other, get the ball out, don't make any mistakes - and I thought we did that."

Revolution II Forward Orlando Sinclair (Translated from Spanish)

On creating chances in the first half:

Sinclair: "We were working hard to create chances in the first half. And when we got to halftime, we talked about how we had to keep getting chances and that the goals would come in the second half."

On recording his second assist:

Sinclair: "Tiago did a great job winning the ball and played a great cross. I saw Justin [Rennicks] in the middle and I just played it to him for the goal."

On connecting with Justin Rennicks:

Sinclair: "It helps a lot that Justin [Rennicks] makes good diagonal runs. It allows me to play in good balls to him to create even more scoring chances."
