HOOKSETT, N.H. - New England Revolution II (2-3-1; 8 pts.) defeated Inter Miami CF II (3-2-1; 10 pts.), 3-1, on Sunday afternoon in their first of eight home matches this season at Southern New Hampshire University's Mark A. Ouellette Stadium . Midfielder Patrick Leal scored his first career goal in MLS NEXT Pro while Academy products Gevork Diarbian and Jack Panayotou also found the back of the net in the Matchweek 7 victory. Goalkeeper JD Gunn earned his second consecutive start of the season, recording a career-high six saves.
Revolution II started on the front foot with Leal tallying his first career goal with Revolution II in the 20 th minute. The Newton, Mass. native capitalized off a pass inside the box from forward Alex Monis, who distributed his second assist in as many matches. In the 30 th minute, Diarbian got on the board, sending a header into the back of the net for his second goal of the season, converting off a flick from Marcos Dias. The Brazilian forward later found Homegrown midfielder Jack Panayotou, who took Dias' pass up the middle of the field and struck a left-footed shot into the back of the net for his third goal of the season and New England's third goal of the match. Dias now leads New England with three assists so far this season.
Miami got on the board in the 54 th minute with a tally from Yannick Bright to cut its deficit to two. In the 79 th minute, New England defender Victor Souza was issued a red card. Down a man, Gunn and New England held on defensively to keep the score at 3-1 for the final 11 minutes of the match.
A total of five Revolution Academy products saw action in today's victory with Diarbian, Panayotou, and Eric Klein all earning starts while Damario McIntosh and Alex Parvu subbed in during the second half. Andrej Bjelajac, Luka Borovic, and Joshua Bolma all saw minutes in today's win as well, coming off the bench as second half substitutes.
