New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution and Chicago Fire will meet on Thursday, Nov. 8, for the right to advance to MLS Cup 2007. The teams will play the 2007 Eastern Conference Championship match at Gillette Stadium, with ESPN2 beginning its live coverage of the match at 7:30 p.m. The WEEI Radio Network will also carry the game.
This is the Revs' MLS-record sixth straight appearance in the Eastern Conference Championship, and a rematch of the 2005 conference title game that saw the Revs top the Fire, 1-0, at Gillette Stadium. In total, the teams have met in five previous postseason series with the Revs holding a slight 3-2 advantage. Both teams are 5-0-0 on their home fields in MLS Cup Playoff matches against the other team.
The winner of Thursday's match will advance to MLS Cup 2007, which will be played at noon on Sunday, Nov. 18, at RFK Stadium in Washington. The Eastern Conference champions will face the Western Conference champion - either the Houston Dynamo or Kansas City Wizards - in the title match.
