Republic FC Declares July 4 Match Caped Crusader Night

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (July 3, 2014) - Sacramento Republic FC will host Caped Crusader Night presented by Jiffy Lube during their match versus Orange County Blues FC on July 4 at Bonney Field. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. The match will celebrate the courageous acts and lives of children with special needs or those children that have experienced life-threatening illnesses.

"We join our partners Sacramento Republic FC in believing that our community's children are the real heroes," said Jiffy Lube CMO Matt Graham. "This match allows us to not only celebrate the superheroes on the pitch but also in the community through our support of Capes4Heros."

The match's festivities will include Republic FC starting eleven, and accompanying child escorts, wearing custom-made capes prior to the national anthem. Child escorts, many with special needs, were selected from local nonprofits and nominated by fans. The capes will then be auctioned during halftime of with all proceeds benefitting Capes4Hereos. Proceeds for the auction will go to Capes4Heroes, a non-profit organization that provides personalized superhero capes to child heroes battling life-threating illnesses, disabilities or life struggles

"This is a first for us, which we are very excited about," said Capes4Heroes Founder Barbara Casados. "We look forward to making capes for hundreds of kids in the Sacramento region through the proceeds from the auction."

Capes4Heroes has provided over 5,000 capes for children across the country. Casados created the foundation through the inspiring story of her own son with autism, who had refused to wear anything but a superhero cape at the age of two. For more information on Capes4Heroes visit capes4heroes.com.

In addition, fans are encouraged to wear their own superhero capes as well as red, white and blue attire and use the hashtag #Cape4Heroes. Fans will be able to view the Cal Expo "Sacramento Independence Day" Fireworks from Bonney Field and surrounding parking lots following the match. Prematch entertainment includes live music by Todd Morgan and the Emblems.
