Republic FC and B&B Aim Foundation Award First Academy Player Scholarship

Republic FC awarded academy player Alex Cruz with a $4,800 dollar scholarship with the generous support of the B&B Aim Foundation. This is the first partnership between Republic FC and B&B Aim to benefit the Academy Program and provide resources for young athletes chasing their dreams to become pro soccer players.

The B&B Aim Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to providing families and children the funding to chase their dreams. Since 2017, their community-focused work has contributed thousands to local families and their children, who otherwise wouldn't have the resources to pursue beneficial opportunities. Through the partnership with Republic FC, young players who may not have the opportunity to access the region's best coaches and a potential pathway to the pro ranks have new doors opened, as well as various opportunities to support their on and off the field growth.

"The B&B Aim Scholarship is an amazing way to help support high-potential players from outside our area to relocate to Sacramento and be a part of our program full-time," said SRFC Academy Director Dennis Sanchez. "Alex impressed us right away because he's tremendously hard-working, humble, coachable, and has all the intangibles that we look for in players on and off the field."

"This has meant everything to me," said Cruz. "I'm able to come to training every day and work with the rest of the guys and coach, instead of only couple times a week like before."

Cruz initially joined Republic FC's academy in August 2020 from Clovis Crossfire in Fresno, CA, and currently plays with the club's U15 squad. He was one of the ten Republic FC players invited to U.S. Soccer's Youth National Team Identification Center in San Jose earlier this year for players in the 2007 birth year.

Alex and the U15 Academy squad will return to action next week, when they take on San Juan FC on November 12 at 7:00 p.m.
