Reno Aces News Release
Round Rock, TX - The Reno Aces (9-10, 53-41) watched their early advantage whittle away in a 4-3 loss to the Round Rock Donuts (13-6, 57-36) Friday night at Dell Diamond.
Reno sprinted out to a three-run lead in the third inning, capped by an exhilarating steal of home from Diego Castillo. With runners at the corners, Castillo alertly sped for home plate on a back pick to first base. Castillo's 12th steal of the season scored the third run of the inning, following a sacrifice fly from Blaze Alexander and an RBI single from José Herrera.
Slade Cecconi was sturdy in his 19th start for the Aces with five innings, two earned runs, and three strikeouts. It was a bounceback outing for the young right-hander against one of the league's best lineups. Cecconi raised his strikeout total to 99, just 28 punchies shy of his professional career high set in 2022 with Double-A Amarillo (127).
The Aces have scored only 11 runs through four games in the set and are averaging just north of four runs per game in July. The PCL's premier offense in the first half scored a remarkable 7.27 runs per game through June. With a pitching staff that's been much better in the second half, Reno could make serious noise if and when the bats re-ignite.
The Aces and Express continue their six-game set Saturday night at 5:05 p.m. PT at Dell Diamond.

The Aces will return home next week for a six-game series with the Oklahoma City Dodgers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. First pitch is 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25th.
