Renegades' Jones Comments on Week 4 Injury

ARLINGTON, Texas - Dallas Renegades quarterback Landry Jones suffered another injury to his left knee in Week 4, potentially sidelining him for the rest of the season.
Jones said after the 27-20 loss to the Houston Roughnecks that it's likely an MCL injury. He suffered a similar injury at the start of training camp in early January and wasn't cleared to practice until the week before the opener, which he missed.
Jones hasn't ruled out a return this season.
"I hope so," he told XFL.com. "Usually MCLs are 4-6 weeks. We have six weeks left, so hopefully I'll be able to come back."
The injury occurred with about 4:40 left in the fourth quarter, as Jones successfully converted a quarterback sneak on fourth down to Houston's 44-yard line. Houston defensive end Caushaud Lyons was the first to get to Jones and appeared to fall on the outside of Jones' left knee as the quarterback went to the ground.
Jones was in obvious pain, slamming his hand to the turf before the Dallas training staff reached him. He was able to walk to the bench mostly under his own power.
"I had the first down and ... my leg was just straight and planted, and someone just popped the outside of my knee," Jones said.
Jones was hoping to have an MRI exam Sunday night to determine the injury's extent.
"We don't know yet," Renegades coach Bob Stoops said. "Fortunately he had the brace on, and hopefully that minimized what the damage is. I don't know just yet."
Jones agreed that the brace could have potentially lessened the blow.
"That's what I'm thinking," he said. "Hopefully the brace helped me out a little bit."
Backup quarterback Philip Nelson, the Week 1 starter, replaced Jones on the drive but ultimately fumbled on the Roughnecks' 5-yard line with 2 minutes left, and the ball was recovered by Houston. The Roughnecks were able to run out the clock.
The Renegades (2-2) have six weeks left in the regular season before the playoffs.
