Rome Renegades News Release

ROME, Ga. – Despite a hard fight and the long road trip to Everett, Washington, the Renegades came up short of a win against the Hawks in their first away ball game of this inaugural season. Coming down to the last quarter, the Renegades lost the game with a final score of 64 to 48. "We didn't take advantage of the turnovers like we should have," said Coach David Humphreys, "with three turnovers, we only gained 3 points."

Sunday's game was an action packed example of why indoor football is such a popular sport, and the Renegades played tough against a difficult opponent. The Renegades rushed for a total of 68 yards and passed for a total of 163 yards. Performing as an offensive powerhouse for the Renegades team, Travis Booker had: 12 rushes for 18 yards and three touchdowns, 6 receptions for 48 yards and one touchdown, and two kick-off returns for 64 yards, one being a 43 yard touchdown. As the defensive leader of the game, Vernon Turner had one interception returned for 30 yards and 5 solo tackles with 2 assists. One of Rome's newest additions, kicker, David Van Riper also played well. All three field goal attempts were good, with the longest being 23 yards.

The Renegades are returning to Rome for a week of practice and game tape review, before hitting the road again for Fayetteville, North Carolina. The Renegades will play the Guard at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, April 16th. Be sure to once again tune into Q-102 for all the play by play action.
