ODESSA, TX. With great pride, the Odessa Roughnecks announced today, the addition of KMID-2 News Sports Director Travis Recek as the team's new Public Address Announcer. After careful review of over a dozen applicants including several local radio and media personalities, the Roughnecks have selected the voice that has the energy and versatility that is needed for a world-class announcer. "The P. A. announcer at a sporting event can completely change the arena's atmosphere", explained team vice president Larry Kiernan, "His ability to enthuse the crowd can create a much better experience for fans."
The 24 year-old Recek has been involved in covering the team since it's inception and has developed great relationships with players and coaches. "This game has become closer and closer to my heart and I am very proud to now be an official part of the team." stated Recek.
Travis Recek can be heard calling all of the action over the loudspeaker at the 3-0 Roughnecks "Season Premier" game just 15 days from now as they host the Billings Mavericks on Saturday, April 23rd at the Rough-House.
