Rome Renegades News Release

Rome, GA - At the .nal event of the 2006 season at Rome Speedway, "The Rome Renegades Rumble", it was a night focused on exciting dirt late model racing and The Rome Renegades. The night began with the Rome Renegades car on display in the grandstands and culminated with Rome Renegades owner Harry Pierce and chief operations of.cer and head coach David Humphreys joining driver Todd Murphy in victory lane.

Murphy would .nish fourth in the second qualifying heat race behind Jason Smith, Luther Jenkins, and Oliver Gentry to earn the eighth starting spot for the feature event. At the drop of the green, Murphy would begin searching high and low and take the #20 Rome Renegades/Big Time Products/Race Engine Design/CJ Rayburn Chevrolet Monte Carlo into the second position by a lap .ve caution. While under caution, outside pole sitter and race leader Jason Smith would retire to the pits with engine problems. On the restart, Murphy immediately began pulling away from the .eld. The race would go green the rest of the way with Murphy moving through lapped traf.c and taking the win by a comfortable margin. Jeff Fields, Luther Jenkins, Danny Carter, and B.J. Passley followed Murphy to the checkered .ag.

"It's great to get the Rome Renegades/Big Time Products car back in victory lane, especially at The Rome Renegades Rumble race. After a dominant year last year, we've had some bad luck at Rome this year and it's nice to get that behind us and win this one. I'd like to thank the entire Rome Renegades organization for their support this year. They have really embraced our race team and dirt late model racing. It's a great relationship with two action packed sports for the fans," said driver Todd Murphy. "I always enjoy racing at Rome. We had a pretty bad wreck at the last race here and nearly destroyed the car. I'd like to thank all my crew members as it took a lot of effort to get us back to this point. We just got our engine back from Race Engine Design and it was strong all night. There was a tough .eld of competitors and we .nished fourth in our heat race. Knowing we'd have to pass a lot of good cars starting in front of us, we made some major changes to the car before the feature and everything worked well. I was able to move to second quickly and knew I had a car capable of winning. I hated to see Jason Smith drop out with engine problems as we were about to put on a good show for the fans. My car worked good on the top and bottom of the track. Once I got out front, I just paced myself and focused on not making any mistakes. This is one of the best racing surfaces anywhere. I wish we could race here more often."

The Rome Renegades are the American Indoor Football League 2006 Southern Conference Champions. They will compete in the newly formed World Indoor Football League (WIFL) during the 2007 season. Season tickets are currently on sale. For more information on The Rome Renegades, visit www.romerenegades.com.
