Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

The Hudson Valley Renegades closed out the 2010 season with a 5-1 victory over the Lowell Spinners, improving their record to 39-36. The 39 victories tie for the fifth-most in club history (2001, 2004).

2010 New York Penn League All-Star Wilmer Almonte (W, 4-3, 6.0IP, 1H, 1BB, 1R/1ER) was brilliant in his final start of the year, retiring the first 18 Lowell batters. He also struck out ten hitters, eclipsing his personal season best by one, and tying for the highest 2010 single-game total by a Renegades pitcher, accomplished August 23rd against the Brooklyn Cyclones. Almonte ends the season tied with Robert Dickmann for the team lead in wins, and became the twentieth Renegades pitcher to reach the 70-strikeout plateau in one season. He finishes the year with 73 strikeouts, tied with Scott Leon, who completed the 1996 campaign with the same number (15TH all-time in HV history).

Hudson Valley All-Star second baseman Robby Price ended the season with a .437 on-base percentage, tied for the best mark in team history (Cliff Brumbaugh, 1995). He was also hit by a pitch 15 times, tying him for the 'Gades single-season record (Ryder Mathias, 2005).

Phil Wunderlich ended the year with a .330 batting average, the sixth best single-season mark in Renegades history. He also completed the season with 19 doubles, tying for fourth most by a Hudson Valley player.

Nick Schwaner finished with 53 runs batted in, third most in a single season by a Renegades player.

Brian Bryles did not commit an error this year in 52 games in the outfield, a club record.

Join us next June for another great season of Hudson Valley Renegades Baseball!
