Renegades Cruise Past Tigers

Norwich, CT "" The Hudson Valley Renegades (44-23) defeated the Connecticut Tigers (35-32) by the final score of 6-2 Saturday night at Dodd Stadium. 3B Grant Kay (2-4) was a key performer in the win for the Renegades as he put together two hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored performance. Kay put the Renegades up 3-0 in the first inning after a two run triple.

C Franklin Navarro (2-4) provided all the offense for the Tigers after he cut the Renegades lead to 4-2 with a second inning two run double. The Tigers offense was cold throughout the night as the Renegades pitching held Connecticut to just five hits. You cannot score runs if you do not have base runners and that was one of the weak points for the Tigers as they were just 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position and left a total of seven on base.

RHP AJ Ladwig (0-4) suffered his fourth loss of the year after being hit hard in his two innings pitched in. Ladwig gave up four runs on five hits in the loss. RHP Confesor Lara did everything he could to keep the Tigers in the game. Lara pitched a season high seven innings while giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and struck out a season high seven batters.

In the series finale, Tigers RHP Spencer Turnbull (0-2, 4.43) is slated to face Renegades RHP Hunter Wood (3-3, 2.91). Tomorrow is Sunday Funday: Kids Run the Bases & Have a Catch! All kids are welcomed to run the bases after the game and receive a coupon for a free ice cream from Ben & Jerry's.
