Remy Hamilton repeats as AFL "Kicker of the Year"

LOS ANGELES -- Avenger kicker Remy Hamilton, who broke his own Arena Football League record for field goal percentage this season, was selected as the AFL's "Kicker of the Year" on Monday. The announcement was made during a live broadcast on ESPNEWS.
Hamilton (6-foot-1, 190 pounds, Michigan) earned the same honor last year and is now the first kicker in league history to win the award in back-to-back seasons.
Displaying stunning accuracy and consistency, he was 27-of-36 on field goals in 2006, which translates to an AFL-record 75 percent success rate. Last season, Hamilton cashed in on 74.4 percent (29-of-39) of his field goal attempts, breaking what was the previous AFL record of 72 percent (18-of-25) set by Jay Taylor of the Orlando Predators in 2004.
Hamilton was a near-perfect 25-of-26 (96.2 percent) on his three-pointers from inside of 38 yards and 92-of-98 (93.9 percent, No. 1 in the AFL) on extra points in 2006. For the second consecutive season, he led all AFL kickers in scoring with 173 points (his closest competitor was 29 points behind). Hamilton also finished the 2006 season with 11.5 special teams tackles (tied for No. 18 in the league).
Having just completed his ninth season in the AFL, Hamilton has scored a grand total of 1,296 kicking points (No. 2 all-time in league history) and converted on 160 field goals (No. 3 all-time).
Avenger players have now won a total of eight major AFL individual honors since the team's inaugural season in 2000.
Last week, Hamilton also was selected to the AFL's All-Arena First Team for the second consecutive season.
