Hamilton named Kicker of the Year

NEW YORK - Los Angeles Avengers K REMY HAMILTON (6-1, 190, Michigan) was selected the 2006 Kicker of the Year as voted by AFL head coaches, players, fans, and the Arena Football League Writers Association (AFLWA). Hamilton also earned All-Arena First Team honors last week.

Hamilton, the first kicker to win the award in back-to-back seasons, tallied a league-high among kickers (173 points) connecting on 27-of-36 (75.0 percent) field-goal attempts and converted 92-of-98 (93.9 percent) extra-point attempts. He broke his own single-season record for highest field goal percentage, exceeding last year's mark of 74.4% (29/39).

Other candidates included: Colorado's CLAY RUSH, Dallas' CARLOS MARTINEZ, Grand Rapids' PETER MARTINEZ and Philadelphia's TODD FRANCE.
