Destroyers sign Saunders, three others as 2007 squad begins to take shape

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Destroyers have re-signed wide receiver/linebacker David Saunders, fullback/linebacker Harold Wells, as well as offensive/defensive linemen Howard Duncan and Brad Greetis, team President David Paitson announced today. The four players are the first re-signings for the 2007 campaign.

Saunders (6-2, 210, West Virginia) played in his seventh season in 2006 and was the Destroyers top receiver. In 15 games, he caught 77 passes for 842 yards and 19 touchdowns. Defensively he added 20.0 tackles (14UT-12AT), three fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and three pass breakups. He was named Ironman of the Game three times.

Wells (6-0, 270, Gardner-Webb) emerged as a star in his first Arena Football League season. Playing in only 12 games, Wells led the team in rushing. He carried the ball 41 times for 134 yards and seven touchdowns. He was just as effective on defense, adding 18.0 tackles (14UT-8AT), an assisted sack and a forced fumble.

Duncan (6-4, 300, Oklahoma) was another standout in his rookie campaign. After starting the season on the game day inactive roster, Duncan played in 10 of the teams final 11 games. He had 4.0 tackles (3UT-2AT), an assisted tackle for a loss and a fumble recovery on the season.

Greetis (6-3, 280, Cal Lutheran), who also played his first AFL season in 2006, saw action in seven games and recorded 7.0 tackles (6UT-2AT), recovered a fumble and added a rushing touchdown.
