Reign Enforcer Comes Back For More
September 10, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Ontario Reign News Release
ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings, announced the re-signing of left winger James McEwan to a standard contract for the 2010-11 season.
McEwan, 23, finished with two points (2G) and 80 penalty minutes in 27 games with the Reign last season. Though he didn't put a lot of points on the board, he made his presence known with his tough-nosed approach to the game. His willingness to mix it up kept opposing players honest and fans cheering.
The Kelowna, British Columbia native played 59 games for the now defunct Phoenix Roadrunners in 2008-09 and was third in the ECHL with 227 penalty minutes. McEwan added seven points (3G, 4A) for good measure. The scrappy forward also appeared in four contests with the AHL's Worcester Sharks that year.
Before entering the ECHL, McEwan played two seasons each for the Kelowna Rockets and Seattle Thunderbirds, both of the WHL. He finished his four-year WHL career with 17 points (7G, 10A) and 540 penalty minutes in 208 games.
McEwan has taken boxing lessons since age 12 and trains during the off-season to keep his edge.
The Reign begins its third season Saturday, October 23, 2010 against the Stockton Thunder at 7:00 PM. Individual tickets are on sale now, you can purchase tickets at the Citizen Business Bank Arena box office or by going to www.ontarioreign.com and purchase them online. Call the Reign front office for more information at (909) 941-PUCK (7825).
