PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings and the AHL Manchester Monarchs, defeated the Phoenix RoadRunners, 2-1, Tuesday evening in front of 1,861 fans at US Airways Center in Phoenix.

Phoenix opened up scoring in the match when center Kimbi Daniels took advantage of a Reign hooking minor at 13:33, and fired the puck past goaltender Kellen Briggs to give the RoadRunners the lead, 1-0. Defensemen Brett Peterson and Dane Crowley registered the assists on the power play goal. Ontario answered back just over three minutes later, when defenseman David Walker buried the puck behind Phoenix netminder Kyle Jones, off assists from defenseman Andrew Martens and center Tim Kraus. Walker's goal tied the game, and sent the clubs into the second period with a score of 1-1.

Left wing John McNabb sent the puck into the net during a power play that resulted from an Andrew Martens cross-checking major around the seven minute mark in the second period. Officials ruled that McNabb's stick went above the crossbar, so the goal was waved off and the score remained tied at 1.

With only three seconds remaining in the third period, David Walker fed the puck to right wing Jon Rheault, who smashed the puck past Jones. Rheault's goal gave the Reign the lead, and clinched the win for Ontario, 2-1.

Notes: - Kellen Briggs made 45 saves on the 46 shots he faced in the match.
