Bombers Trump Reading 4-2

Dayton, OH - Mike McLean and Tomas Zaborsky had two points each as they carried the Bombers past the Reading Royals 4-2 on Wednesday night at the Nutter Center.

The Bombers got on the board first when Jarret Lukin netted his 17th of the year, assisted by McLean at 6:15 in the first period. Rookie Tomas Zaborsky grew the lead to two on an unassisted power play goal. Reading, however, would follow with two goals of their own in the first to knot the game at 2-2. At the end of the period Dayton was outshooting Reading 19-13.

Newly acquired forward Justin Chwedoruk gave the Bombers a 3-2 lead in the second period with helpers from Nino Musitelli and Christian Gaudet. After two frames, the Bombers continued to outshoot the Royals 36-18.

In the third, McLean added an insurance goal, his 17th of the season, on the power play at 1:41. Justin Bowers and Zaborsky earned assists on the play.

The Bombers finished the nigh 2 of 8 on the power play and 5 of 7 on the penalty kill. In all, Dayton outshot Reading 45-27.

Bombers goaltender David Shantz, in his first game after being reassigned to Dayton by the NHL's Florida Panthers, was 25 of 27 for the win.
