Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release
PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League, today announced their 2013-14 regular-season roster. The roster is the result of several tough decisions for the Fighting Falcons coaching staff following an extremely competitive and successful training camp.
The roster includes 14 forwards, eight defensemen and three goalies. Ten of the 25 players on the roster saw significant action with the Fighting Falcons last season.
Six players with 1993 birth years will play out their final year of junior eligibility in Port Huron. Twelve players have 1994 birth years, four were born in 1995 and three in 1996, giving the Fighting Falcons a younger team than last season.
Players from seven states will lace up for the Fighting Falcons this season. Skaters from Arizona, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin will join 18 players from Michigan. Four players from the Blue Water Area earned spots on Port Huron's roster.
FORWARDS
Vito Aluia: A Warren, MI native, Aluia returns to Port Huron for a second season after appearing in 58 games with the Fighting Falcons last season. Aluia tallied 20 points on eight goals and 12 assists in his first NAHL season.
Zach Badalamenti: Port Huron's first pick in the 2012 NAHL Draft, Badalamenti played 35 games last season before being sidelined with an injury in late January. The Harrison Township, MI native scored four goals and ten assists last season.
Noah Batis: This Latrobe, PA native signed a tender agreement with the Fighting Falcons last season. Batis earned 29 points on 16 goals and 13 assists in 37 games with the Victory Honda U18 team last season.
Conner Enciso: This forward from Commerce Township, MI impressed coaches at Port Huron's off-season tryout camps following a great season with the Dallas Ice Jets of the WSHL where he amassed 70 points on 29 goals and 41 assists in just 44 games.
Taylor Fernandez: Fernandez was another player tendered by the Fighting Falcons last season. In 39 games with Victory Honda's U18 team last year the Northville, MI native totaled 27 points on 11 goals and 16 assists.
Jon Hall: Hall parlayed his success at Port Huron's tryout camps to a spot on the Fighting Falcons 2013-14 roster. Hall is a native of Fishers, IN
Nick Horne: Hailing from Marysville, MI, Horne returns to the Fighting Falcons for a third season with a chance to become Port Huron's all-time leader in games played. In 105 combined games with the Fighting Falcons, Horne has 37 points on 15 goals and 22 assists.
Matt Jones: One of the youngest members of the 2013-14 Fighting Falcons, Jones was tendered by the team last season. The Peoria, AZ native played for the Arizona Bobcats U16 team last year. Jones was named the first star of each of Port Huron's two exhibition games this month.
Logan Lambdin: This Carelton, MI native excelled at Port Huron's Open Tryout Camp this season, where he earned an invitation to the team's Main Camp, then training camp, and finally a spot on the 2013-14 team. In 40 games with Belle Tire's U18 team last season, Lambdin tallied 12 goals and 17 assists for 29 points.
Mitch Maloney: Maloney returns for his second season with the Fighting Falcons after his ten goal, ten assist season a year ago. The Macomb, MI native played 53 games in Port Huron last season.
Austin Romzek: A native of Shelby Township, MI, Romzek traveled to Canada to play for the Gloucester Rangers last season. In 47 games, the forward had 12 points on two goals and ten assists.
Stefan Trentacosta: This Sterling Heights, MI native earned his spot through his play during the Fighting Falcons' tryout camps this summer. In 40 games with the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies last season, Trentacosta tallied 27 points on 14 goals and 13 assists.
Bryce VanHorn: A senior at Port Huron Northern High School, VanHorn was one of the biggest surprises throughout the Fighting Falcons' training camp this summer. One of three 1996 birth year players on the roster, VanHorn will get his first junior hockey action this fall.
Bryan Yim: Yim returns to the Fighting Falcons, where he played 43 games last year before being called up to the Indiana Ice of the USHL. A Farmington, MI native, Yim scored 24 points on eight goals and 16 assists during his time in the NAHL.
DEFENSEMEN
Alex Archibald: Port Huron's first tendered player in their franchise history, Archibald returns for his third season with the Fighting Falcons this fall. Archibald has played 127 total games with the Fighting Falcons in two seasons, and has seven goals and 26 assists for his NAHL career.
Jeremy Briscoe: Briscoe became a 2013 draft pick of the Fighting Falcons after his play at Port Huron's Pre-Draft Camp this summer. A Phoenix, AZ native, Briscoe played with forward Matt Jones with the Arizona Bobcats U16 team last year. Briscoe is the youngest player on the Fighting Falcons roster.
Bobby Brown: This 6'6" native of Kirkwood, MO played 44 games in Port Huron last season and returns for another year with the Fighting Falcons for what is technically his third NAHL season as he appeared in two games for the St. Louis Bandits in the 2011-12 campaign.
Jonathan Kopacka: A Metamora, MI native, Kopacka played 61 total games for the Fighting Falcons last season, and appeared in three more in 2011-12. In his second full season with the team, Kopacka looks to build on his success last season.
Nick LeSage: Port Huron's final pick of the 2013 NAHL Draft has made the team's regular season roster after his hard work at the team's training camp. In 47 games with the Minnesota Iron Rangers last year, the Green Bay, WI native earned 21 points on seven goals and 14 assists. LeSage also appeared in one game with the NAHL's Texas Tornado last season.
Joey Lindberg: A Woodbury, MN native, Lindberg is one of five of Port Huron's tendered players to make the regular season roster. Lindberg had a goal and ten assists in 38 games with the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders last year.
Lucas Little: This Traverse City native had two assists in four games with the Fighting Falcons last season and was tendered by the team for this year. Little played 37 games for the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies last season, where he had 13 points on two goals and 11 assists.
Reed Scahill: This Port Huron native will get his first junior hockey action this season after his play throughout the summer earned him a spot on the Fighting Falcons roster. Scahill came up in the Port Huron Minor Hockey Association and is no stranger to McMorran Arena.
GOALIES
Alex Blankenburg: The Washington, MI native made 22 starts in Port Huron last season, going 10-8-3. He finished in the top 20 in the NAHL in both goals against average at 2.42 and save percentage at 0.922.
Max Milosek: Port Huron's all-time leader in wins, Milosek returns for his third season between the pipes for the Fighting Falcons. A Lapeer, MI native, Milosek got the bulk of the playing time for the Fighting Falcons last season, with a 22-16-1-2 record in 39 appearances.
Connor Webb: This Commerce Township native was a late addition to Port Huron's training camp roster, and his play throughout the camp and in the Fighting Falcons' two exhibition wins earned him a spot on the regular season roster. In 15 games with the Little Caesars U18 team last year, Webb posted 1.29 goals against average.
