
RedHawks swing past T-Bones, 9-2

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, behind a four-run first defeated the Kansas City T-Bones 9-2 in front of a sellout crowd 4,657 fans at Newman Outdoor Field Monday night. RedHawks starter RHP Nick Fellman (4-5) pitched 5.0 innings and gave up two runs (all earned) for his fourth win of the season.
Following a seven-minute rain delay, the RedHawks batted around in the first inning. CF Nic Jackson and DH Randall Simon opened the scoring with a pair of two-run home runs for a 4-0 first inning lead.
In the second, DH Craig Hurba got Kansas City on the board with his 13th home run of the season and the T-Bones crept within three runs. In the fifth, T-Bones 2B Neb Brown reached first on a fielder's choice, nabbed second and was singled home by SS Jeff Helps to cut the RedHawks lead in half.
RedHawks LF Justin Justice gave the RedHawks a three-run cushion with a solo shot to right-field for his 10th home run of the season. With runners at first and third, Simon lifted a sac fly to score Jackson from third and C Alan Rick doubled Salazar and Piepkorn home. 2B Carlo Cota capped the RedHawks four-run seventh with an RBI double to give the RedHawks a 9-2 lead.
The RedHawks and T-Bones play in the half-way mark of this four-game series tomorrow at Newman Outdoor Field. RHP Matt Mossey (2-0, 2.84) will toe the rubber for the RedHawks and RHP Chris Rhoads (5-3, 5.12) will get the ball for the T-Bones. Game-time is 7:02 p.m.
