TONIGHT: The RedHawks open a 4-game series and road trip against the Omaha Royals. It's OKC's final trip to Rosenblatt Stadium, which is closing after this season. The RedHawks and Royals split a 4-game series at Rosenblatt May 3-6, with OKC taking the second and third games. OKC enters the series after a 7-3 loss last night against the Memphis Redbirds, a series where the RedHawks dropped 3 out of 4. OKC leads the American South Division by a half-game over Albuquerque. Omaha is third, 1.5 back of Nashville in the American North. Righthander Guillermo Moscoso gets the start for the RedHawks against former Hawk Luis Mendoza.
DIVISION LEAD: OKC begins play tonight a half-game ahead of Albuquerque in the American South Division. The RedHawks have been in sole possession of first place since a win at Memphis April 16.
BIG DIFFERENCE: The RedHawks own the best run differential in the league, having scored 274 while allowing 217, a plus 57. Fresno is second at +52. OKC is 8-8 in 1-run games, 10-14 in games decided by 1 or 2 runs and 19-11 in games decided by 3 or more.
NO DOUBLE DIGITS: The RedHawks are the only team in the PCL to have not allowed double-digit runs in a game. The most allowed by the RedHawks is 9 runs on 3 occasions. Their highest earned run total allowed is 8 on Thursday in a 10-9 win over Memphis. In that game Memphis had a 9-0 lead in the sixth inning, only to see OKC rally over the final 4 innings to win capped by a 3-run, walk-off homer by Esteban German.
HOME/ROAD DISPARITY: The RedHawks dropped 3 out of 4 at home in a series that ended last night against Memphis. OKC has lost 7 of its last 8 home games and is 14-14 at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. The RedHawks recently went 7-4 during a rain-shortened, 11-game trip and is 15-11 on the road.
PETIT, GARKO EXTEND ON-BASE SREAKS: Gregorio Petit extended his on-base streak to 17 games. Among RedHawks, it's the best active on-base streak. Esteban German had an 18-game on-base streak earlier this season. Ryan Garko has reached by hit, walk or hit by pitch in 13 straight.
BULLPEN UPDATE: In the past 19 games, OKC's bullpen has worked 69.2 innings, allowing 14 earned runs (1.81 ERA) on 43 hits while going 4-1.
PITCHING NO. 1: Despite allowing 22 earned runs in the past 4 games, OKC still leads the PCL in team ERA at 3.48. Nashville has the second-best mark at 3.58. The RedHawks have allowed the fewest home runs (28) in the league. Fresno is closest with 36 home runs surrendered. OKC has allowed the fewest earned runs (185) and has the third-most strikeouts (400) behind Sacramento (420) and Albuquerque (406).
STARTING AND FINISHING: The RedHawks are 5-9 in series openers and 4-10 in series finales, meaning they've gone 20-6 in the second and third games of series. OKC has won 6 series, lost 3 and split 5.
FIRST INNING WOES: OKC has allowed at least 1 first-inning run in 5 straight games, losing 4 of those 5. OKC has been scored upon in 6 of the last 7 first innings after allowing a first-inning run in just 7 of the first 47 games. When allowing a first-inning run, the RedHawks are 7-7.
ODDS AND ENDS: Esteban German is third in the league lead with 40 runs scored and second in stolen bases with 20...Sacramento's Corey Wimberley has 22 steals...German is fifth in the PCL in walks with 32...the RedHawks have committed an error in 5 straight and 6 of their last 7 games...when making an error, the RedHawks are 12-17. They are 17-8 when errorless.
