News Radio 1000 KTOK, RedHawks Radio Network | Play-by-Play: Jim Byers & Judson Richards

LH Derek Holland (2-1, 0.67) vs. RH Rick VandenHurk (1-1, 4.26)

TONIGHT: The Oklahoma City RedHawks begin the second series of an 8-game homestand with the first of four against the New Orleans Zephyrs (Florida Marlins). OKC had its 3-game winning streak (and 6-game home winning streak) snapped on Tuesday in Memphis' 9-5 win. The RedHawks lead the American South by 2 games over Albuquerque with the second-best record in the PCL at 13-7. New Orleans is third in the division, 4.5 back of the RedHawks. Lefty Derek Holland brings a league-best 0.67 ERA into today's start, his first against New Orleans. Righthander Rick VandenHurk gets the start for the Zephyrs, his first against OKC.

MOVEMENT: The RedHawks had 6 transactions since last playing on Tuesday. Following Tuesday's game, catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia was reinstated from Texas' DL and optioned to OKC after serving 7 games on a rehab stint, and catcher Taylor Teagarden was optioned by Texas. Pitcher Tommy Hunter was activated off Texas' DL yesterday and optioned. Craig Gentry and Max Ramirez were recalled by Texas after Tuesday's game and infielder/outfielder Andy Jenkins was transferred to Double-A Frisco.

FINISHING: Tuesday's loss was the RedHawks' third straight in a series finale and dropped them to 1-4 in the last game of a series in 2010. Twice they have had Memphis down 3-0 in a series and failed to sweep. OKC has yet to lose a series, splitting two and winning three.

ONE STREAK STOPS, ANOTHER MOVES ON: Chad Tracy had an 8-game hitting streak snapped Tuesday, the longest OKC hitting streak of the season. Tracy did extend his on-base streak to 12 games with a walk. Tracy has failed to reach base by hit or walk only once this season, April 13. He has hits in 16 of 19 games played.

LEADERS: Chad Tracy leads the PCL in total bases (50) and is second in homers (6) and tied for second in RBIs (19). He's also fifth in slugging (.667) and tied for third in hits (25). Tracy is tied with Albuquerque's John Lindsey and Las Vegas' Brett Wallace for the extra-base hit lead with 12. Esteban German, who has not played in the past 2 games because of a bruised left hand, is tied for third in runs with 16. Derek Holland leads the league with a 0.67 ERA. Brandon McCarthy, currently on OKC's DL, and Holland are 1-2 in the PCL in innings pitched with 28.2 and 27 IP.

TEAM RANKINGS: OKC is second in team ERA at 3.16 behind Nashville's 2.90. The RedHawks have the league's second-lowest WHIP (walks + hits per innings pitched) at 1.17. Offensively, the RedHawks are tied for third in the PCL in team batting average (.278), third in slugging (.446), and second in on-base percentage (.356). OKC tied with Las Vegas for the PCL lead in home runs with 22.

EYRE RARITY (TONGUE TWISTER): Willie Eyre took the loss on Tuesday, snapping a stretch of 42 straight appearances without receiving a decision between the majors and minors. Eyre's last decision was a loss as a Texas Ranger Aug. 16, 2007 against Kansas City. He went on the DL after that game, had Tommy John surgery and missed the 2008 campaign, then did not factor in a decision in 36 games last year or his first 6 of 2010.

RAPADA'S STREAK ENDS: Reliever Clay Rapada allowed a run on Tuesday, ending an 8.2-inning scoreless streak over his previous 6 games.

ODDS AND ENDS: Memphis' 6-run sixth inning on Tuesday was the highest scoring inning against OKC this season...OKC has 22 home runs, 11 coming with 2 outs in an inning, including Jarrod Saltalamacchia's 3-run shot on Tuesday.
