Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Bryan/College Station, TX - The final score this evening was a tight 3-2 victory for the Bombers in an electric game that went to 11 innings. Brazos Valley did a good job keeping the Generals out of scoring position all night only allowing them to score twice but the Bombers also struggled a little bit converting their 7 hits keeping the game close all evening. Luckily, Bombers' athletes like Simon Larranaga and Justin Harris continued to show their value and consistency at the plate to be crucial game changing factors in this ball game to get this four-game series with Victoria tied 1-1. This matchup will continue tomorrow for game three on the road in Victoria before coming to an end at home on Saturday!

In the second, Simon Larranaga got the energy going for the Bombers on both sides of the game, logging a double play at first where he robbed a hit and tagged the Generals athlete out who was already on first. He followed this explosive play up with a leadoff solo home run that was launched out of left field for his 5th homer of the season keeping him at the leader position in the TCL for most home runs! This homer would put the Bombers on the board for the evening. The next big play on offense would be a well hit double earned by Justin Harris that would be placed up the left foul line in the bottom of the third.

In the bottom of the fifth, national Champion Justin Harris followed up his last phenomenal play with another double smashed deep into right field for back to back doubles showing off his consistency and key role for this team. Simon Larranaga continues to be a major factor in positive momentum for tonight's game earning a solid base hit through the 6 hole getting him on base for yet another at bat in the bottom of the sixth. The hits continued to roll in for the Bombers when power five hitter Casey Sunseri crushed a beautiful base hit into right field and advanced to second on a sac bunt by Justin Harris to get him in scoring position late in the eighth.

The game this evening was a close one just like the previous matchup between these two teams forcing tonight's game to go into extras. Victoria scored in the 10th but this was not left unanswered when Justin Harris continued his hot streak sending a ball into the gap by right center field dropping perfectly to send Christian Smith Johnson home to tie the game 2-2! Cole Plowman placed a bunt in a great position to allow him to advance to first safely and send Justin Harris to third in the 11th inning to keep the Bombers victory hopes alive. With one out on the board Jacob Guerrero hits a ball foul and it is caught out by right field but this gave Jacob's Angelo State teammate Justin Harris just enough time for him to score for a Bombers win!
