Memphis Redbirds News Release
MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds and outfielder Shane Robinson have both been nominated for 2011 Minor League Baseball Yearly Awards; Best Theme Night and Homer of the year, respectively.
The Redbirds are up for Promo of the Year under Best Theme Night, as they hosted Organ Donor Night this past season on August 13. Not only were fans encouraged to sign up to be an organ donor, they had a chance to win a keyboard organ by AMRO Music and bid on one of the most talked about jerseys this season. Memphis players took the field in organ-themed jerseys that displayed more than just heart.
With Robinson's two out, bottom of the ninth grand slam on Guaranteed Win Night at AutoZone Park August 1st, the Redbirds shocked fans and the opposing team in an 8-7 last minute victory.
Fans can show their support for the Redbirds and Robinson by voting here, voting ends October 13. If the Redbirds win Theme Night of the Year, they will be up for Promotion of the Year.
