Memphis Redbirds News Release
Memphis, Tenn. â The Memphis Redbirds announced today that they have extended their broadcast agreement with Sports56 WHBQ for two more years.
"We are thrilled that our fans will continue to find Redbirds baseball on Sports 56," said Redbirds vice president of marketing Kerry Sewell. "From our inaugural season of 1998, to the PCL championship season of 2000 and all the way through this season's national attendance crown, Sports 56 has been the home of Redbirds baseball."
The On Deck show and all 144 Redbirds games will continue to air on Sports56 through the 2006 season. Home broadcasts will begin an hour before the first pitch to include pre-game, and will continue through the post-game Redbirds wrap-up. Road broadcasts will begin a half-hour prior to the scheduled first pitch.
"We have had a great relationship with the Redbirds from the beginning, and we're looking forward to continuing our partnership," said Sports56 WHBQ program director Eli Savoie. "Extending our agreement with the Redbirds ensures that Sports56 will remain a leader within the local sports community."
Sports56 WHBQ has been the Redbirds flagship since Triple-A baseball returned to Memphis in 1998.
