Halifax Mooseheads News Release

Halifax Mooseheads forward Alexandre Doucet has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Detroit Red Wings as an undrafted free agent. The 21-year-old from Sherbrooke, QC has enjoyed a fantastic season split between the Mooseheads and Val d'Or Foreurs with a QMJHL-leading 45 goals to go along with 89 points.

Doucet has scored 18 goals and 18 assists in just 24 games with the Mooseheads since being acquired at the deadline from the Foreurs on December 21st after spending parts of five seasons in Val d'Or. The left-shooting, right winger sits fifth in QMJHL scoring. He was drafted in the sixth round of the 2018 QMJHL Entry Draft, 93rd overall and is nearly a point-per-game player for his career with 221 points in 228 games. He went undrafted by the NHL but has proven to be a late bloomer with a huge season as a 19-year-old in 2021-22 before an even bigger output this season.

Doucet will continue to be one of the driving forces of the Halifax Mooseheads offensive attack heading into the 2023 QMJHL Playoffs and will join the Red Wings organization in the offseason.
