Rochester Red Wings News Release

ROCHESTER, NY - Red Wings righthander P.J. Walters has signed a minor-league contract with the Minnesota Twins for the 2013 season. The deal includes an invitation to major league spring training.

Walters went 3-3 with a 4.01 ERA in 14 starts with the Red Wings in 2012 after signing with Minnesota as a minor league free agent prior to the season. He was the Red Wings' Opening Day starter April 5 at Syracuse (Nationals) and only Liam Hendriks made more starts for Rochester with 16. The 27-year-old Walters also made 12 starts with the Twins in 2012, going 2-5 with a 5.69 ERA.

Walters's final eight starts with the Red Wings officially came while on a minor league rehab assignment. After being promoted to the Twins on May 10, he went on the 15-Day Disabled List June 14 with right shoulder inflammation. The Alabama native re-joined the Twins in September after the conclusion of the Red Wings' season.

Walters is 4-5 with a 6.39 ERA in 32 career major league games (16 starts) with the Cardinals (2009-11), Blue Jays (2011), and Twins (2012).
