Red Stars' Masar Out 4-6 Weeks

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. - Chicago Red Stars forward Ella Masar will miss 4-6 weeks after suffering a hip injury that resulted in four torn muscles during Sunday's 1-1 tie at FC Gold Pride.

Masar was injured in the 72nd minute of Sunday's match when she collided with FC Gold Pride goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart while chasing down a ball inside the 18-yard box. An MRI Tuesday revealed the damage.

The former University of Illinois standout has appeared in all nine games for the Red Stars this season, including three starts. She recorded the first point of her WPS career at Los Angeles June 3rd on an assist to Cristiane.

The Red Stars return home to TOYOTA PARK on Sunday, June 21st to face Kristine Lilly and the Boston Breakers at 3 pm. The Father's Day match will feature a special classic car show in the parking lot before the game.
