New York Red Bulls News Release
SECAUCUS, NJ (February 22, 2008) - Red Bull New York announced today that it has waived midfielder/forward Francis Doe.
"After evaluating our roster over the course of the preseason, we feel that we have solid depth at forward and thought that it would be beneficial to part ways," said RBNY Sporting Director Jeff Agoos. "We wish him the best of luck in the future."
Doe, 22, was signed by the Red Bulls on Aug. 25, 2007. The 5-8, 150-pound Liberian scored two goals and one assist in eight games (four starts) in 2007. Prior to joining the Red Bulls, Doe was with Greek Super League side Atromitos FC for two years. During his time there, he played in 34 league games, finding the back of the net eight times. The Liberian was also with USL First Division side, the Minnesota Thunder, in 2004 and 2005. He started his career at Ghanaian club, Buduburam FC.
On the international level, Doe has represented Liberia at the 2006 World Cup qualifiers as well as in the 2008 African Cup qualifying stages.
The Red Bulls home opener is scheduled for Saturday, April 5 against the Columbus Crew at Giants Stadium at 7:30 PM ET. For ticket information, contact the Red Bulls at 1.877.RBSOCCER.
