Records Are Made to be Broken as Saints Host Second Annual Zer0K During Running of the Pigs

ST. PAUL, MN (April 17, 2013) - The St. Paul Saints have come up with the perfect event for the active and the lazy. The Saints 10th Annual Running of the Pigs, in conjunction with Scheels, Walser Automotive Group, Comcast Cares Day, St. Paul Athletic Club and Lettuce Cater, will have some participants sweating while others sit back and relax.

On Saturday, April 20 the Saints will host a race perfect for an ultra marathon runner or couch potato. The Zer0K race is the only competition in the world where everyone is on a level playing field. "Runners" in the Zer0K receive a special t-shirt that says, "The Original Zer0K, Pull Up A Chair," a cold beverage following their grueling race, opportunity to sit on couches and cheer on the 5K runners, a post-race meal and a ticket to a future Saints game.

Along with the Zer0K, other race day events include the Youth Fun Run and the main event, the 5K which will begin and end just outside of Midway Stadium.

Participants can check in or register between 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. with the Youth Run kicking off at 9:00 a.m.

Runners will line up for the demanding Zer0K at 9:25 a.m. with the race ending at 9:25 a.m. The 5K Run/Walk will follow starting at 9:30 a.m. The race begins near the back gate of the ballpark next to the hardball café in left field and will take runners along Energy Park Drive towards Randolph St. and then towards Snelling before finishing at the same area as the start. The race will be timed. Last year's winner among men was Paul Donnelly, with a time of 17:39, and female Laura Oliver, who finished in 20:20.

The post-race meal at the ballpark will be provided by Lettuce Cater. They are located at 604 40th Ave. Northeast in Columbia Heights.

Registration in advance is $35 for adults and $20 for youths for the 5K and $20 for the Zer0K. An extra $5 will be charged for registering on the day of the race. The 5K entry fee includes a short-sleeve 2012 "Running of the Pigs" T-Shirt, a post-race meal voucher and a general admission ticket to the Saints game. For guests of race participants, extra picnic and game tickets are available for $5.

Parking for the race itself is available in the main parking lot at Midway Stadium free of charge and runners are advised to arrive early as the road will be closed 15 minutes before the race.
