Ohio Valley Greyhounds News Release
The Ohio Valley Greyhounds announced today the signing of Matt Kohn (pronounced cone) as the new quarterback for the âHounds for the upcoming 2006 season. Kohn, an extremely gifted athlete at 6'-2", 205 pounds, had a stand-out college career as a record-setting quarterback at the University of Indianapolis. While at Indianapolis, Kohn broke the standards formally set by Seattle Seahawks quarterback Kevin Kreinhagen, and Matt now holds all 18 University of Indianapolis records for passing and total offense.
"We had spoken a length with Matt regarding his playing for the Greyhounds in the 2005 season, however, he wanted to finish school and get his degree first," said Mark Bonar, Greyhound Offensive Coordinator. "He is done with school now and we are very fortunate to have a player of Matt's caliber at quarterback. I am really looking forward to making him an important part of our offense."

On the professional football level, Kohn distinguished himself as the starting quarterback for the Tupelo Fire Ants of the National Indoor Football League (NIFL) during the 2005 football season prior to signing with the Greyhounds for 2006.
"The entire Greyhound organization is very pleased to have someone as talented as Matt Kohn to be leading the âHounds as quarterback for this upcoming season," said Lou Stein, Greyhound owner. "His size, speed, accuracy, and athleticism will give us the high-powered offense that we are used to having here at Ohio Valley, and that our great fans love watching. Matt has already had a stellar football career, which we are eager to see him continue here as the new quarterback for the Ohio Valley Greyhounds. I commend our coaches and recruiting staff on the work they are doing to attract the great talent they have from both within and outside this region."
"In meeting with Matt, I have found that he has been involved in some great activities off the field including âAthletes in the Classroom' from 2001-2004 and âIndianapolis Parks Summer Football Camp' from 2002-2005, added Stein. I am sure Matt is going to be a great addition to the Ohio Valley both on and off the field. Another interesting bit of information is that Matt's college team is known as the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds, so he should immediately feel right at home here."
Training camp for the Greyhounds begins March 3, 2006. The Greyhounds 8th season opens Friday March 24, 2006 with an away game with the Lexington Horsemen in Lexington, Kentucky.
