Record crowd sees PrairieThunder fall in finale

Jeff Zehr's two goals helped Flint knock off Bloomington, 4-2, before a U.S. Cellular Coliseum record hockey crowd of 6,250 people Saturday night in the PrairieThunder's season finale.

The PrairieThunder ended its first season in franchise's history and in the United Hockey League with a 25-45-6 record.

Bloomington jumped to a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal by Kristjan Jefkins off assists by Jon Booras and Mike Zbriger at the 10:58 mark. Flint took a 2-1 lead in the second period on goals by Jordan Fox and Mike Kinnie.

Zehr's first goal extended the Generals lead to 3-1 with 18 minutes remaining in the third period. Zbriger cut the PrairieThunder deficit to 3-2 on a power play with 13:44 remaining off assists by Tyler Rennette and Casey Handrahan.

Zehr added his second goal on an empty net score as the final buzzer sounded. Saturday night's crowd pushed the PrairieThunder's overall attendance for 38 games to 143,026, which ranked third in the 10-team league.
