Indy Eleven News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - Indy Eleven's pursuit for a place in the 2017 Playoffs took a major hit on Saturday afternoon in a 3-0 loss to Miami FC in front of a packed house at Carroll Stadium
Miami FC was quick off the mark, opening the scoring just four minutes in thanks to forward Stefano Pinho. Following a move down the left flank, his teammate Jaime Chavez slid in a pass towards goal that Pinho latched onto and put past Busch for the first of the afternoon.
Minutes later, a crucial challenge from midfielder Gerardo Torrado prevented Miami from going in clear on goal. Indy's best attack of the afternoon came in the 22nd minute for forward Eamon Zayed. Brazilian winger Paulo Junior flew down the right flank and floated a ball in for the Irishman, but he could not direct his header on target.
Miami FC would double its lead in the 34^th minute as again Pinho and Chavez connected with the former adding his second goal of the day on the latter's second assist. Then, as we approached the halftime break, former Indy Eleven midfielder Dylan Mares added a third off a pass from Poku, and Indy went down 0-3 into the break.
A second half that yielded few chances, Indy would not get on the scoresheet despite looks for Zayed, Speas, Henderson, and Vukovic. Scoreless through the final 45 minutes, Indy Eleven fell to Miami FC, 3-0, at "The Mike."
Indy Eleven returns home to IUPUI's Michael A. Carroll Stadium to host Puerto Rico FC on Saturday, October 21 at 3:00 P.M. ET. Tickets for the game - and all remaining 2+ NASL matches at "The Mike" in 2017 - can be purchased for as little as $11 online at www.IndyEleven.com or by phone at 317-685-1100.
