CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs, making their first appearance in Corpus Christi in five seasons, skated to a 4-1 victory Friday over the Corpus Christi IceRays at American Bank Center. Luke Mobley (2+1) and Jack Johnston (1+2) each registered three points for the Ice Dogs.

Trenton Woods opened the scoring for the Ice Dogs at the 2:36 mark of the first period with a wrist shot from the left point. Mobley then made it 2-0 with a one-timer from Johnston at 11:44.

Santeri Hartikainen registered the IceRays' lone goal of the night in the final minute of the first period, cashing in on a turnover at 19:10.

Johnston (16:52) and Mobley (5-on-3 PPG, 19:36) added goals in the second period to increase the visitors' lead to 4-1.

Corpus Christi netminder Sam Best returned to the bench for the final 4:40 of regulation, as the IceRays tried their luck with a 6-on-5 attack but were unable to light the lamp.

Fairbanks outshot Corpus Christi by a 41-28 margin.

The two teams will rematch Saturday night at American Bank Center with puck drop set for 7:05 PM. It's Superhero Night-fans who show up to the box office in costume can purchase discounted tickets for $12.
