Odessa Jackalopes News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - Losing 3-1 on the road was not necessarily the way the Odessa Jackalopes wanted to start their October.
Despite a quick start to the game, the Jackalopes could not capitalize on several early chances. Instead it was the Brahmas who rallied and struck first in the later stages of the first. The Lone Star Brahmas got off to a quick 2-0 lead in the first period with both goals coming less than a minute apart from each other.
The first goal came after a Brahma used a Jackalope defenseman as a screen and fired the puck passed CJ Hapward. The later coming off the Brahmas' first power play of the game.
The Brahmas piled on in the second period with their second power play goal of the game that put the Jackalopes in a familiar 3-0 deficit going into the third period.
Despite Sebastian Franz's first North American Hockey League goal late in regulation, the Jackalopes could not complete the comeback and fell to Lone Star for the second straight game. Franz received a pass in the high slot and sent a quick wrister into the pack of the net with three seconds left on the Jackalopes power play.
The loss puts Odessa in sixth place in the NAHL South Division, with Lone Star elevated to fourth place due to a Corpus Christi loss.
The Jackalopes will look to split the series tomorrow night against Lone Star. Face-off is set for 7:30 pm. Fans can listen live on Classic Rock 102 and watch on HockeyTV.
