MONTGOMERY, ALA. - For the fifth time in 2018, the Jackson Generals climbed into double digits in the run column, and like each of the previous four occasions, they earned a victory. The visiting side burned the Montgomery Biscuits on Thursday night with six runs across the first three innings on the way to a 14-8 victory at Riverwalk Stadium. The win for Jackson vaults them back into the series lead, and they now stand just one win behind first-place Chattanooga in the Southern League's North Division.

Facing former Arizona Diamondbacks prospect Sam McWilliams, the Generals began the siege on Riverwalk Stadium with a leadoff home run from Daniel Robertson on the second pitch of the game. Josh Prince would double home Rudy Flores and Jamie Westbrook later in the frame, and from there the assault was on, as the top three hitters in the Jackson order (Robertson, Flores, and Westbrook) combined for 14 total bases with seven hits, six runs, and four RBI. Galli Cribbs picked up his league-leading seventh triple of the year as part of a 2-for-4 night, and Jose Vinicio cleared the fence for the first time this season with a lined shot that just cleared the left field wall in the sixth inning. The Generals tied a season high in runs scored, and they matched a season-best mark when Rudy Flores homered-their third homer of the contest-to tie for the league lead with 10 on the year.

Pitching-wise, the Generals didn't end up needing a lot from starter Jayson McKinley, who allowed three runs in three innings of work but kept the outburst small enough to not threaten the Jackson lead. Kirby Bellow picked up the win by throwing a scoreless fourth inning, as the Generals improved their road record in May to 7-6. Jackson enters Friday's contest with a chance to win the series and deny a rubber game to the opposition, a position in which they've only gone 2-2 previously this season.
