BOX SCOREPLAYS

The BlueClaws won their second-straight 3-2, 10-inning, walk-off game, topping Greensboro on Tuesday.

-- LAKEWOOD, NJ - One night after winning 3-2 on a 10th inning walk-off single, the BlueClaws picked up a 10th inning walk-off win on Tuesday on a throwing error after a Luke Williams SAC bunt.

Edgar Cabral doubled to start the 10th and David Martinelli pinch ran. Williams bunted to third, but James Nelson threw the ball away allowing Martinelli to score the winning run and give the BlueClaws their fourth walk-off win of the season.

Lakewood (26-19) has now won four in a row and moved past Greensboro (25-19) for second place, one game behind first place Hagerstown.

Tyler Hallead (1-0) earned his first win as a BlueClaw by throwing a scoreless tenth inning. Michael Mertz (2-1) took the loss, allowing the tenth inning unearned run.

The BlueClaws got runs in the second and third innings to open up a 2-0 lead. In the second, Brett Barbier homered, his first of the season and second as a professional, to open the scoring. Then in the third, Carlos Duran led off with a double. He advanced to third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch.

Greensboro got on the board in the fourth on a fielder's choice hit by Eric Gutierrez. The Grasshoppers still had runners on the corners with one out, but Justin Twine grounded into a 1-6-3 double-play to end the inning and keep Lakewood up by a run.

The Grasshoppers then tied the game in the seventh on an RBI single by Luis Pintor. The single came off reliever Mauricio Llover but was charged to starter JoJo Romero. Romero allowed two runs in 6.2 innings with five strikeouts and two walks.

Grasshoppers starter Dustin Beggs went seven innings for the third time, allowing two runs on five hits.

Mauricio Llovera threw 2.1 scoreless innings for the BlueClaws.

Mickey Moniak was 1-4 and extended his hitting streak to six games. Darick Hall, meanwhile, was 0-4 and saw his eight game hitting streak come to an end.

The series with Greensboro wraps up on Wednesday morning at 11:05 am. LHP Ranger Suarez (2-1) starts for Lakewood opposite LHP Dylan Lee (3-3).
